sooo i was rained off work today. [Aug. 22nd, 2005|08:59 pm]
[mood |happyhappy]
[music |rites of spring - drink deep]

So in the absense of work...I did this questionairre that i stole from young marcus

another one of those questionairre jobbies )

I saw my dad in town whilst i was buying Cds so got a lift home and chatted about cool things like music, life and the bad combination of gardening and wet weather. We decided to make salad and then have lots of vegetables and stuff for dinner which meant i could have more of that mayo that i never have and that my parents wont touch because its 'weirdo vegan stuff'. i then took a trip to the supermarket and bought some more 'swedish glace' and cheapo soya milk and marge and also got myself some rhubarb and ginger nuts just in case i feel like making some pudding one night (i'm too tired tonight mind).

I bought 'the waves' by virginia woolf yesterday and have consumed half of its contents already, it is rather dreamlike and pretty. It doesn't read like a fictional novel, more like a very long poem littered with slight hints of a story and the usual trappings of beggining, middle and end. hopefully my new books arrive before i finish this i want more!

late night update! [Aug. 19th, 2005|12:22 am]
[mood |tiredtired]
[music |sicarii LP]

*phew* I've spent all day being lazy and listening to records, ive once again skived off of work.
last night was a gig at the cardigan arms in leeds and it was enjoyable, we sold some more 7"s to people who can give only the most flattering of comments (thankyou kind people).
Today i ordered the wellington CD discog thing along with lots more harsh and also emailed a bloke who has a distro over the other side of the pond and he had the 'the sea, the sea' 12" on it!!! i had do a double take, it could be my lucky day... but he hasn't got back yet. i hate having to rewind to the start of their tracks on a mixtape gareth did me a while ago even though they do make it worth it, absolutely beautiful.
Also today derek and sam from parade of spectres and i have been getting depressed about the fact the first ekkaia LP is out print , i think i should start a petition for stonehenge or la idea to sort out a reprint for us latecomers, the 7" i have is soo good, beats the second LP hands down BRING BACK OLD SCHOOL EKKAIA!!
I'm buying a bass next month i've decided and want to do all that reallly downtuned depressive/hatefilled hardcore business like drift, noothgrush, HHIG or uranus or a mix of all of em so if anyones interested in getting a band together once ive learnt how to play the thing (i'll get back to you when i can, i predict 15 years) then i'll be up for it! i get to choose the name, it will probably be Edgar Alan Poe or HP Lovecraft related knowing me.
I'm listening to sicarii, this band should release some more shiz! i forgot how good this LP is, even if its 45 on one side and 33 on the other, that does get a little irritating, especially with my record player.

sat'day, raining, what do i do? [Aug. 13th, 2005|02:39 pm]
[mood |cheerfulcheerful]
[music |Io - the willow snag]

so yes, it is saturday and i've just finished work, managed to get myself on different hours tommorow so i can go to practice before travelling with the band to nottingham to play a half day type affair with top class bands, i think james from rolo tomassi got us on the bill which was nice of him.

i'm listening to Io Cd (again) and awaiting a 7", can't wait!

i'm also thinking of starting a tiny distro of records i like and don't think get put in distros in europe enough. A few bands/friends that spring to mind are: Polar, Take down your art, the sea like lead, the holy fucking spirit and an arrow in flight (rip) Though the bands i want in there at the moment would make me look like a bit of an elitist DIY punk/hardcore fan or something, the scope of music i eventually distibute wont be constricted by the confounds of punk rock or whatever. just a bit of a pipe dream at the moment but it may come true very soon!

if you have any ideas for names please tell me! i'm thinking 'things i like' or something.

the first blog! [Aug. 11th, 2005|01:42 am]
[mood |cheerfulcheerful]
[music |yacopsae - einstweilige vernichtung]

Look i have one of these blog things! i never thought i'd get one of these again!

Right i'm up at nearly 2am listening to fast (avulsion, yacopsae, fear of god, phobia, assuck all rotated) and contemplating my 4/5 brew of the night. I think the excitement of getting my hands on copies of a record with me on it is keeping me awake. ermmm i best not post up the info here but it is a split 7" w/ a lovely 2 piece american band called her breath on glass and has great packaging and will cost £2.50, worth it for the HBoG side and the artwork alone!

I love ben hirst and gareth lloyd, actually i love my band and everyone in it.

The corpses chaps (minus Rob, although he was there in spirit), Neil and I went to see raein and louise cyphre play in manchester the other day, was nice! and the sets were tonnes better than those in leeds even though those were amazing. We had to say bye to raein, louise cyphre and the german chaps which wasn't nice as they are all ace and it was cool getting a little shout out in the LC set.

anyway! moff to listen to records and think about going to sleep. thankyou for reading this far... more to come!

Jakey x

p.s. i got packages from both ebullition and electric human project today RECORDS GALORE!
